NEXT WALES MANAGER BETTING SHOWS BRIAN FLYNN AS FAVOURITE
As soon as John Toshack confirmed his departure the market was already up at Betfair. The exchange wagering on the next Wales manager is well under way and the early odds are pointing towards under-21 manager Brian Flynn. The market is still young and will be jumping around a lot today and it looks like Flynn is also seeing heavy volume.
Currently, Brian Flynn's odds to be named Next Wales manager trades at an even-money price but has been hovering a few points up and down depending on when you're looking at it. Usually there is plenty of movement on the outside contenders at this stage as well so you can lock in some tidy prices if you keep your eye on the market.
At the moment, Flynn's main challengers appear to be Kenny Jackett and former Fulham boss Chris Coleman, who both trade at 4.0. Ryan Giggs was available at 11.0 at the time of this writing and I think he might be a popular option for some particularly patriotic folk, but I think he would likely start as a coach and move his way into management.
Gary Speed, Tony Pulis, Simon Davey and Dean Saunders are both trading at 10.0 while John Hartson, Gary Megson and Tony Mowbray can all be backed at 11.0.
One thing that probably should be mentioned is the sharp drop in price that happened on Phil Brown, who is now trading at a mere 6.4 to be named next Wales boss. He could start immediately and lord knows he would love the step up to this level having just recently been linked with a League 1 club.
Robbie Savage is priced at 15.0 while Ian Rush can be backed at 20.0. Martin O'Neill is also available at 20.0 but, for some reason, I just don't see that happening.
