NFL - did you back the bear?
Those who followed the Betting Chocie Super Bowl advice back in September are now in an extremely strong position. The main headline selection, Chicago at 25/1 are one game away from representing the NFC in the Super Bowl. The number one seed in the NFC are generally available at 7/2. Standing in the Bears way are the New Orleans Saints, who have delighted everyone this season with how they have turned around their desperate fortunes from twelve months ago. It was only a year ago the Saints were homeless and struggling to finish off the bottom of NFC South. A lack of playmakers on the team led to some bookmakers offering the massive odds of 150/1 for them to win Super Bowl. Those odds have of course long gone with most firms now going 9/2. And of course now the Saints can boast a wide array of offensive talent with Drew Brees at the helm, and rookies such as Reggie Bush and wide receiver Colston making such big impressions on the league. Whether Chicago can win one game more will probably depend on the type of game they get out of their signal caller. Rex Grossman has either been fantastic or truly dreadful this season, and fortunately for the Bears last weekend was more of the former with an outstanding long range TD strike, and several crucial third down throws. It helped that Chicago's offensive line did a better job than it has in recent memory of giving Grossman plenty of time to throw. The question is whether that will happen again against New Orleans' blitz-happy defence. Will it harass Grossman into making the mistakes that got Bears fans so down on him before the playoffs, or will it give Grossman the wide-open field he craves for the long-passing game?If things go according to form for the Saints, the unfortunate answer will be the latter. The Saints gave up an NFL-worst 16 completions for 40 or more yards in the regular season. They tied for 30th-worst with 26 passing touchdowns allowed. In the AFC Indianapolis Colts have astounded everyone by making to the Championship game on the back of two strong defensive efforts and only one Touchdown pass from Peyton Manning. At some point the Manning will surely click into gear and that could be bad news for the Patriots, who yet again relied on the arm of Tom Brady to win a play-off game. This time their victim was the Chargers who despite numerous chances couldn't see of the multiple Super Bowl winners. The Colts are favourites at a best price 13/8 at Bluesq having originally been recommended at 13/2 by this website.
