NFL Week 9 - PHL Eagles @ PIT Steelers
Some intriguing match-ups this weekend, including what has been dubbed the 'Battle of Pennsylvania' at Heinz Field. After ending the unbeaten run of New England Patriots in Week 8, the Steelers will be trying knock-off an unbeaten team for the second straight week when they face the Eagles on Sunday. Philadelphia are the only remaining undefeated team in the NFL, but recent results suggest that their run may be about to end. Overtime was required to see of Cleveland Browns a fortnight ago, and then last weekend Baltimore minus three key offensive players were only narrowly beaten. Plus, the Eagles will likely be without running back Brian Westbrook for the second straight week due to a cracked rib. He leads the Eagles with 458 yards rushing to go along with 31 catches for 249 yards, and is a massive loss for the visitor's offence this weekend. The Steelers are off to their best start in 26 years and have a commanding lead in the AFC North, all despite a rookie QB. Since taking over from Tommy Maddox, Ben Roethlisberger is undefeated as a starter, and had little trouble last week dissecting the defensive schemes of Bill Belichick. Roethlisberger played a mistake-free game, completing 18-of-24 passes for 196 yards and two touchdowns, helping the Steelers to a 34-20 victory. This week though may prove to be his biggest test so far. There is much to like about both teams but after a flip of a coin the vote goes to the hosts at 10/11. However, in what is likely to be a tough defensive battle, a play on the game total may prove to be more profitable. So far this season, Philadelphia games are averaging less than 40 points, while for Pittsburgh the average is 43.5 points.
