NHL STANLEY CUP WINNER ODDS FAVOUR CAPITALS AND PENGUINS

We’ve finally got NHL action back for another season and it’s going to be extremely interesting to see how this season unfolds. The open betting exchange at Betfair is a great way to get a live snapshot of how people expect the season to shape up and the early indications are that the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Washington Capitals are considered to be the strong favourites by the betting public.
As it currently stands, Betfair has priced the Washington Capitals at 7.0 to win the Stanley Cup while Pittsburgh are available at a 7.6 margin, which places them just a step behind Alexander Ovechkin and Co.
The defending Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks are trading at an 11.0 margin to win Lord Stanley’s coveted trophy once again.
A number of NHL observers are tipping the Vancouver Canucks as strong favourites to win the Stanley Cup and you reckon that they certainly have the players to pull it off- it’s just a matter of if they can get those players to play consistently at a high-level.
The Canucks odds to win the cup are trading at 12.0 at the moment and this makes them the fourth favourites according to the Betfair exchange market.
The only other teams with slightly plausible prices include the San Jose Sharks at 13.5 and the Detroit Red Wings at a 14.0 price. The Philadelphia Flyers and the Los Angeles Kings are both listed at 18.0 with the Boston Bruins trading at 21.0.
The longest shot on the board appears to be the New York Islanders at a 190.0 price to win the Stanley Cup- with the Columbus Blue Jackets at 150.0 and the Minnesota Wild at 120.0.
