NIGERIA VS SOUTH KOREA LATEST ODDS AND BETTING PREDICTIONS

Nigeria can count themselves as one of the more fortunate teams still in the World Cup. Despite losing both of their opening games they remain in a situation where qualification for the last 16 is still a very realistic possibility. Should Argentina achieve an expected victory over Greece then a win for Nigeria would see them progress to the second round.

However, it is South Korea who look the most likely to qualify for the next round and will do so with a win should Greece lose or draw and can even progress with a draw themselves if Argentina beat Greece.
On the basis of each team’s results against the Argentines – South Korea were beaten 4-1 whilst the Nigerians went down by the game’s only goal – it could be suggested that Nigeria are the most likely to take victory here. Yet those results don’t tell the whole story, South Korea were very much in the game at 2-1 down against the South Americans but got caught on the counter attack when pushing men forwards in search of an equaliser, whilst Nigeria rarely threatened the Argentine goal.
South Korea can be backed at 2.5 (6/4) on Betfair but I would prefer to back the 1.6 (8/13) that is available for them to qualify from Group B. Should news reach them that Greece are being beaten comfortably by Argentina towards the end of the 90 minutes then they might just chose to sit back and take the point that would see them progress.
Park Ji-Sung has been South Korea’s most impressive player this tournament scoring the second against Greece in their opening game and was instrumental in their efforts to unlock the Argentina defence in the second. He can be backed at 11.0 (10/1) to open the scoring in this evening’s game.
The Nigerians will be looking to Everton striker Yakubu to step up to the plate after disappointing so far this World Cup, he can be backed at 9.0 (8/1) to break the deadlock. However, if you’re looking for a Nigerian to break the deadlock then I’d be inclined to look at Chinedu Ogbuke Obasi who started the game against Argentina and came on as a second half substitute against Greece looking dangerous in both games. He can be backed at 12/1 with Skybet to open the scoring and 9/2 to score at any time in the match.
