Norwich to Finish bottom of the Premiership?
For the first time in Premiership history, there is still no club relegated going into the final weekend of the season. Currently in pole position to survive are Norwich City who recorded a fourth straight win at Carrow Road to move out the drop zone. The other teams in danger all drew with West Brom battling hard at Old Trafford, while Crystal Palace and Southampton fought out a 2-2 draw. It should have been so much better for the Eagles who led 2-1 going into the dying seconds. All the above clubs are odds on for relegation, although instead of concentrating on the team most likely to survive, a fascinating market is who will finish bottom. As can be seen from the above odds table, West Brom are favourites to be bottom. However, of the relegation threatened clubs - it could be argued the Baggies have the easiest task with a home game against Portsmouth. Southampton on paper look to have the trickiest game against Manchester United at St.Mary's. However, the Reds are unlikely to have anything to play for and also have an important Cup Final to consider. That said Man U won't be easy to beat. Crystal Palace will be confident of taking something from their game at Charlton Athletic. The Addicks have been in terrible form and have only pride to play for. Although seen as the least likely to finish bottom by the bookies, Norwich are away to Fulham. A point probably won't be sufficient to stay up, especially as their goal difference is the worst of the four clubs. The problem for the Canaries is their away form - no game has been won on the road. Fulham showed against Blackburn that they are still playing hard despite nothing to play for, and won't want to end the season on a disappointing note. Given West Brom look set for victory, Palace and Southampton should take a point from their matches, it is not inconceivable that Norwich could finish bottom of the pile by losing away at Fulham. A best price of 20/1 on Norwich to finish bottom does look worth a small investment with Stan James
