OSULLIVAN V WHITE SNOOKER BETTING ODDS
Ronnie O’Sullivan returns to action today following his remarkable 147 in beating Mark King in the World Open round of 64. Today he faces one of the players who provided the inspiration for him to get involved in the game in the first place, Jimmy White.
O’Sullivan and White have met on 20 previous occasions with the wins stacked heavily in favour of the younger of the two. The Rocket has won 16 of their previous encounters with The Whirlwind winning just four; however, one can’t help but think that if they had met when both in their heyday then there wouldn’t be such a disparity in those statistics.
Unfortunately there is little reason to suggest they will get any better for White today. The short World Open format was expected to throw up some shock results, but, en masse we haven’t seen that happen.
Coral are offering odds of 1/6 on O’Sullivan progressing to the next round whilst White can be backed at 7/2. The winner will go on to meet Stephen Hendry in what will be another highly anticipated fixture.
In golf, the final round of the FedEx Cup gets underway today with 30 players battling it out for the $10million prize. The five front runners in the standings - Matt Kuchar, Dustin Johnson, Charley Hoffman, Steve Stricker and Paul Casey – will be guaranteed to win the FedEx Cup should they win the Tour Championship event, whilst the other 25 players will be looking at a combination of results to secure the lucrative prize.
Phil Mickelson is the 7/1 favourite, with Skybet, for this weekend’s event with Ryder Cup teammates Dustin Johnson, Matt Kuchar and Steve Stricker also towards the forefront of the betting.
