Pablo Du Charmil slashed for Paddy Power Gold Cup
Following Pablo Du Charmil's impressive victory in the Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter, Paddy Power have slashed David Pipe's six-year-old from 20/1 to 12/1 for the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham on November 17th. Pablo Du Charmil remains second in David Pipe's pecking order for the race according to Paddy Power who report strong support for stable companion Abragante who remains 10/1 joint fourth favourite for the Cheltenham race. The Paul Nicholls trained Granit Jack heads the betting at 4/1 ahead of Jonjo O'Neill's number one challenger, and original antepost favourite, Don't Push It at 6/1. O'Neill's exciting chaser was a faller in last year's Arkle but showed his well being this term winning recently over hurdles at Chepstow. Pipe's Vodka Bleu went off 4/1 favourite in the Paddy Power Gold Cup last year and beat all but Exotic Dancer, he is rated a 14/1 shot by Paddy Power. Another of Pipe's entries, Abragante, is also 14/1 with Paddy Power and something of an outsider considering he is 23lbs better off over fences than hurdles. On a line through Irish Grand National winner, Butler's Cabin, Abragante could be very well handicapped - although he needs a few at the top to come out of the race to sneak in the bottom of the weights. The Irish challenge looks likely to be headed by Paul Nolan's 20/1 shot, the four timer seeking French Accordion who is a full brother to Accordion Etoile. Paddy Power said: "It's a bumper entry and at this early stage Don't Push It sticks out like a sore thumb. There are a few smelly ones down the bottom of the weights but the Paddy Power Gold Cup's roll of honour shows that in this race, the cream rises."
