PACQUIAO VS MAYWEATHER LATEST ODDS AND TIPS
The biggest fight boxing has seen in decades has been in a real state of on-again-off-again limbo, but that looks set to end with both sides agreeing to mediation in order to ensure that the March 13th fight goes ahead. Manny Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum has recently spoken with the Los Angeles Times and he indicated that a meeting is set to go ahead on Tuesday to resolve the differences between the two camps.
Several online bookmakers have suspended odds and betting on the fight, but a number of them continue to take bets (which would be refunded should the fight not happen) and we can assure that, as of this moment, the best odds are available on Betfair. Despite the fight being several months away (at least) there is money being matched at the peer-to-peer betting site where players can create their own odds and back odds created by others. This “open market” style atmosphere has seen more bets being placed here than many other traditional websites.
As it currently stands, Floyd Mayweather remains the favourite to win the fight, boasting an odds-on price of 1.85. Manny Pacquiao has been the underdog since the fight was announced and you’ll find Pac-Man at around 2.25 on Betfair. The draw is listed at 28.0, but I don’t really think many fans will be backing the draw.
The method of victory betting is where things get really interesting. The favoured outcome for the fight, currently, is a Mayweather victory by decision which pays out at a 3.1 margin. The second most likely outcome is Pacquiao via decision which you’ll find at around 3.85. Mayweather by KO, TKO or DQ pays out at 4.2 while Manny just edges him at 4.1 for a victory by the same means.
Round betting is also available, although the market has not matured yet. You’ll find each boxer listed at 25.0 to win in a specific round. Expect to see these prices change rapidly once we get closer to the fight.
I am personally of the opinion that this match will go ahead. They both realize that this fight is actually bigger than just the two of them- this is about saving a sport and bringing it back into the frame of the general public. A fight like this that has captured the public’s imagination would be a travesty to lose. I am confident that the boxing bureaucrats from Nevada will do everything in their power to make sure these two combatants square off in Mid-March.
