PGA Tour - Southern Farm Bureau Classic
You could probably make a case of some sort for about fifty guys this week, and still not be guaranteed to get the winner!Jonathan Byrd probably deserves to be favourite after giving Vijay Singh a run for his money last week. He would have gone close to winning if it weren't for a thinned bunker shot into the water at the tenth hole on Sunday. Byrd could do even better on this Jack Nicklaus layout as he will have a bit more room off the tee to accommodate his sometimes less than accurate driving, but at 16/1 he doesn't represent any real value. Kirk Triplett must come into the reckoning on a course where he has competed seven times, with nothing worse than a tie for 23rd. He is likely to be fresh and up for this after a few weeks off. Brendan Pappas should have won here twelve months ago but got ahead of himself and blew it on the final hole. Needing an eagle for a 59, he found sand off the tee and made a bogey six, when a par would have got him into a play-off. His form over the past two weeks reads well - 22nd in Texas, 36th at Mystic Rock - nothing special, but enough to make him worth a small each way interest, and a possible for 2-ball/3-ball bets. Incidentally, his brother Deane was second here back in 2002. The No.3 tip goes to Dean Wilson, a prolific winner on the Japan Tour (like Open champion Todd Hamilton), and a sound all-round player, particularly on the 'dance floor'. After finishing third in Texas two outings ago - his third top-15 finish in a five-week spell - he looks good each way value at 66/1.Tips: Kirk Triplett @ 22/1, Brendan Pappas @ 80/1, Dean Wilson @ 66/1. Each-way 1/4 1-2-3-4-5. Betting updated after each round.
