Phil Taylor Raymond van Barneveld and Gary Anderson Likely to Contest the Grand Slam of Darts

English and European darts enthusiasts have been spoiled by the incredible action happening at the Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton. After disposing of local rival Andy Hamilton, Stoke-on-Trent's Phil Taylor is set to battle Australian Simon Whitlock in tonight's contest. Phil 'the Power' Taylor is the out-and-out favourite listed at a near lock with a 1-20 line on him to win outright. The odds for the Aussie don't look particularly appealing. Barney's ArmyVan Barneveld is set to do battle with Terry Jenkins and this one is a bit more of a toss-up with Barney listed at 4-11 and Jenkins paying out at 2/1. Despite the relatively tight odds, I really don't see any reason not to back Barney in this one. I think he's at his best when the pressure is on and he is under pressure to get a result and wind up facing Taylor for the marquee match of the tournament. Anderson/FittonThe Anderson/Fitton match is a similar story with the exact same betting line as the Barney match. 4-11 and 2-1 are both competent lines, but again the smart punter has to back Anderson. The real value will come in the next round and I do believe that an upset is in the cards in the later stages. A van Barneveld/Taylor final is what everybody is craving and this could be a classic. Stay tuned for the odds on the final!
