PHIL TAYLOR VS ADRIAN LEWIS PREMIER LEAGUE DARTS BETTING TIPS

The apprentice versus the sorcerer, the king versus the pretender, the trainer versus the trainee.... you can be sure that Sky will pull out all the usual clichés for this match, but if history is an indicator then this will be another comfortable two points for the World Champion.

If you weren’t already aware, Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis were once practice partners. Both hailing from Stoke, Lewis was once seen and touted as the successor to Taylor’s thrown, however, after an acrimonious split the youngster has failed to live up to that reputation and developed the tag of the games great underachiever. And it has been Taylor who has sent him crashing back to earth every time that The Jackpot has appeared to be nearing the heights which he clearly can achieve.
At the very top, the mental attributes of a darts player are often more important than his throwing ability. Lewis has never beaten Taylor in a televised match and that is now becoming a huge mental burden. He looked primed to push him all the way at this year’s World Championship when he was in top form ahead of their quarter-final clash. But Taylor once again slammed the door in the youngster’s face by beating him 5-0 and Lewis was visibly distraught. The words “will I ever beat this guy” may as well have been tattooed upon his forehead.
There is little to suggest that Lewis is ready to beat his old foe this time out unless he catches him on an off-day, not a phrase commonly associated with The Power. At 4/11 the main danger to your money will be Lewis coming out of the blocks firing on all cylinders, but I wouldn’t be too worried even if he does take an early lead, it tends to only take one big checkout from Taylor to see Lewis questioning his ability to win.
That high checkout is something that Taylor tends to hit with uncanny consistency at crucially important junctures in matches. I like the look of the ‘133 or higher’ in Betfair’s highest checkout score market; even if Taylor doesn’t hit it you can be sure that Lewis will have to if he wants to get anything from this game. More than 8.5 180’s at 11/10 with Sky Bet also looks a good play here, especially if Lewis can get in on the act early in the match, something he also has to do if he is to win or even take a draw.
There are so many important factors which have to go Lewis’s way if he is to win here, but I feel that the mental barrier of beating Taylor is now too large. Jump on the Taylor gravy train now.
