PHIL TAYLOR VS SIMON WHITLOCK 2010 PREMIER LEAGUE OF DARTS BETTING TIPS

In the aftermath of Simon Whitlock’s valiant World Championship final defeat to Phil Taylor earlier this year, many darts fans were salivating at the prospect of the Aussie challenging Taylor’s supremacy in the sport. However, a short five weeks later when the two met on the opening night of the Premier League The Power brushed Whitlock aside and many believed that The Wizard’s brilliance at Alexandra Palace may have been nothing more than a flash in the pan.

But Whitlock had his excuses for being well below par that night. He had arrived in the country from Australia just two days prior to the game, and anyone who has endured a long haul flight to or from Australia will understand just how long it takes to overcome the jetlag and fatigue associated. He had also been suffering from a heel injury which severely hindered his practice regime in the weeks subsequent to the World Championships. Although I don’t like to lightly make excuses for underperforming sportsmen, I think it is fair to say that Whitlock had his fair share of obstacles to overcome that week.
Since then he has gradually improved in the Premier League as he acclimatises to the format and massive crowds. Now I believe he is peaking at just the right stage, perfectly timed to beat Taylor this week and make a surge into the semi-finals and beyond.
Whitlock claimed his second PDC ranking event title at the weekend and in doing so beat Taylor in the semi-finals. If he can beat him tonight then he will join a very select group of players who have beaten the world’s greatest ever player twice in a row – so select that there are no readily available records of it ever happening before.
There are just two advisable bets on this game tonight, first of all a lay of Taylor at 1.55 (8/15) with Betfair – this provides a more conservative alternative to backing Whitlock outright – and secondly a back of Whitlock in the race to 3 legs at odds of 19/10 with Bwin. Taylor’s Achilles’ heel in the Premier League this year – although often gone unpunished – has been his slow start to matches.
Recommended Bets;
Lay Taylor to beat Whitlock @ 1.55 with Betfair
Back Whitlock in race to 3 legs @ 19/10 with Bwin
