PHILADELPHIA UNION VS MANCHESTER UNITED FRIENDLY MATCH ODDS AND BETTING PREVIEW
As is the usual case with these types of pre-season friendly matches, there aren't a tremendous amount of betting odds available on this one, but you can certainly make the best of it and lock in a few decent prices if you're careful. I actually expect many more markets from the bookmakers as we get closer to the kick-off but it's more than worth taking a look today to see just how things are stacking up.
Needless to say, Manchester United are the significant favourites here and they should be enjoying some real confidence as they produced a very poised performance to see off Celtic at the Rogers Center in Toronto.
Dimitar Berbatov scored a wicked goal to open the scoring in that match and if he can produce that type of precision with regularity this season then I think he could really put all the naysayers in their respective places. I'm confident that Berbatov will come good this season as he looks distinctly fired up. The lack of a World Cup should help him as well and I reckon he's been working on his finishing non-stop over the past few months.
Manchester United's odds to beat Philadelphia are priced at 1.28 with Ladbrokes and that's a fairly short price but I think it's justified. You can get an 8.0 price on Philadelphia and a 4.5 on the draw is probably where most folks looking to bet against United should place their cash. Giggs and Scholes also looked sharp and you can certainly tell that younger players like Gabriel Obertan and Darron Gibson will be looking to put in some quality performances here.
The favoured correct score outcome is a 2-0 result to Manchester United at a 6.0 price tag. A 1-0 or 3-0 win are both priced at 7.0 while 2-1 to United trades at 8.0. A 1-1 draw is priced at 10.0 and that's the same odds as a 3-1 result to the Red Devils.
If you really think United will run away with this one, you can back them at 13.0 to win 4-0 and 26.0 to win 5-0. A 6-0 victory pays a hefty 67.0.
Should United win both legs of the half-time/full-time market then you've got a 1.61 price while draw/Manchester United is listed at 4.5.
I think we could see another workmanlike performance from the United side but Philadelphia will certainly be here to play. Watch for the American side to throw their weight around a little bit and get stuck in on some of these United players. I reckon the visitors will get the job done though.
