PORTSMOUTH VS ASTON VILLA LATEST BETTING TIPS
We’re just a few minutes away from kick-off in the other Carling Cup fixture today. Portsmouth, led by Avram Grant, are set to try to get some momentum going again as they take on Aston Villa.
Bet365 is listing Villa at 11/10 while Pompey are trading at a 12/5 margin. The draw pays 23/10 and I think that could be what the South Coasters are going to be shooting for. Forcing overtime would give them a real chance of pulling this one off and I fancy them to try to keep as organized as humanly possible. In fact, I could see them deploying a single striker to nullify Villa’s movement through the midfield.
If you think Villa will pull this one off, then I think that the half-time/full-time market has them listed at 5/2 to win both halves. Draw/Aston Villa is listed at 4/1 while Draw/Portsmouth garners a solid 13/2 price. Portsmouth/Aston Villa is worth a bash at 28/1, as is Aston Villa/Portsmouth at 33/1.
Gabriel Agbonlahor is the favoured goalscorer here with a 7/5 anytime price with John Carew just a step behind at 7/4. Emile Heskey trades at 2/1, while Aruna Dindane and Frederic Piquionne are available at 12/5 and 5/2, respectively. You’ll also find Ashley Young listed at 5/2, but his form has been patchy as of late. Fabian Delph is 11/2 anytime but I’m actually looking at Anthony Vanden Borre to score for Portsmouth from a set-piece should they actually score a goal.
Take a look at the correct score market if you’re looking for some extra value. 2-0 to Aston Villa is listed at 8/1 while a 1-0 result pays a slim 6/1. A 1-1 draw is the lowest-priced result at 11/2. Portsmouth to win 1-0 pays out at 15/2 while a 2-1 win would pay a solid 11/1.
I think Portsmouth actually do have a shot at this one, buoyed by a new presence in the dressing room. I think the smart money has to go on Martin O’Neill’s side though. 2-1 sounds about right to me.
