PORTSMOUTH VS SUNDERLAND PREMIER LEAGUE TIPS

Things look to be going from bad to worse to terrible down on the South Coast as another person apparently owns Portsmouth and their tax problems seem to be growing by the day. It would be a lot easier to overlook this if the team was going gangbusters and acting like the physical, difficult-to-play-against side that they have been over the past few years. Unfortunately, Avram Grant’s men just haven’t been able to string together victories over the past while.
They are favourites to win today against a Sunderland side that can’t seem to be able to buy a victory anymore. Pompey are listed at 13/10 against Sunderland’s 11/5 and, although Sunderland are sitting in 13th place they are only a few points off the relegation zone- making this a six pointer. If Pompey don’t get the victory here, then where do they get the points from? They have no chance of staying up if they can’t beat a Sunderland side in decline. This team is starting to run out of games and its only February.

That said, I expect Portsmouth to come out with some verve and some swagger- it’s the only way I think they can approach the situation. Throw caution to the wind and just go balls-to-the-wall.
Portsmouth will be looking to Frederic Piquionne and Aruna Dindane to get the business done in front of goal. They are both priced at 7/4 anytime and 6/1 first or last. Danny Webber trades at 2/1 anytime and 7/1 first and last. Ridiculously highly-paid John Utaka pays out at the same price as Webber. Nwankwo Kanu pays out at 9/4 anytime and 15/2 first or last. Kevin-Prince Boateng is competitively-priced at 10/3 and 9/1 first or last.
Darren Bent is considered the most likely goalscorer in the match with a 5/4 anytime price and a 5/1 listing for first and last goal. Benjani pays out at 15/8 and 13/2- the same price as battering ram Kenwyne Jones. Fraizer Campbell is trading at 11/4 and 8/1. Keep your eyes on Lee Cattermole who trades at 8/1 anytime and a massive 25/1 first or last.
Portsmouth are 6/10 on a draw no bet and Sunderland are a solid 5/4.
The favoured correct score line is a 1-1 draw at 9/2 (which is a short price), while Portsmouth 1-0 pays out at 5/1 and Sunderland 1-0 pays 6/1. Pompey are 7/1 to win 2-1 while Sunderland pay out at 9/1 for a 2-1 victory.
I think both teams can win this match and both teams certainly need to. I think that a draw doesn’t suit anybody and we could actually see quite a few goals here if things pan out the right way. I think nerves could be a factor and I’m confident that someone will concede a penalty or possibly an own goal. Should the first goal of the match be an own goal- you’re looking at 16/1.
