PREMIER LEAGUE 2009-10 TOP SCORER BETTING TIPS
Paddy Power has just announced a brand-new enhanced special for the upcoming Premier League season- if you back the top scorer of the 2009/10 season and they wind up scoring more than 30 goals, Paddy Power will DOUBLE your odds! How awesome is that? There is only a few players that can possibly pull this one off and a lot of it will depend on that player staying injury-free for the rest of the season. In the current betting market, Liverpool's Fernando Torres is the 11/4 favourite with Didier Drogba of Chelsea a bit behind him at 15/2. Wayne Rooney and Nicolas Anelka are both sitting at 12/1. Surprise signing of the summer Michael Owen of Manchester United is a bit underpriced at 16/1. He's not bad value on an each-way bet though. Emmanuel Adebayor, who looks to be signing for Manchester City, shares an 18/1 pricetag with Robin Van Persie and Liverpool's Steven Gerrard. The underwhelming Dimitar Berbatov is on par with City's Robinho at 20/1. Other notables include Arsenal's Eduardo at 28/1, Jermaine Defoe at 25/1, Manchester City's Carlos Tevez sits at 25/1 as well. If you're feeling especially saucy, why not have a punt on 150/1 Kevin Phillips who looks set to do most of the scoring at Birmingham. You can cash in each-way odds of 1/4 on the top 4 places. Personally, I think Torres is the logical favourite, but there's a lot of variables here that keep me from backing him based on value. I think out of everybody he has the best chance of notching 30 goals and getting that enhanced special bet. But, I personally think Liverpool will be a distinctly different side without the assistance of Xabi Alonso. There are just too many question marks over Liverpool at this point to keep me from backing Torres. I like Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen at their prices, but I actually think that Dimitar Berbatov could really throw everybody for a loop by making a big statement early in the season. I think he could find more space to do what he does best now that Ronaldo has gone.
