City now sit just six points back from Chelsea, who remain undefeated but question marks will be raised about whether they can sustain their unbeaten run after being held to a 0-0 draw by a determined Sunderland side.

The Black Cats were unlucky not to get the breakthrough goal as they counter-attacked well and stayed organized at the back. It was the first time Chelsea haven’t taken all three points from a match that wasn’t played in Manchester. Up until this point, only United and City have avoided being beaten by Chelsea and United needed a goal four minutes into injury time in order to actually do it.
There are mid-week fixtures to look forward to so things might get even more interesting up towards the top of the table this week. Manchester United are on a real roll now having put together a nice 3-0 victory against Hull City that was an extremely comfortable win with Chris Smalling able to help smuggle ball over the line - he was backed up by Hawkeye as well.
Wayne Rooney then produced a wondrous goal that really continued his excellent purple patch. He is a form-based player and is really rolling right now for both club and country. Things got even better when Robin Van Persie was able to hit the back of the net as well - he hasn’t been in the goals for a while and will enjoy the renewed sense of confidence. If Van Persie can strike in the match against Stoke then you reckon that he’ll have put his problems behind him for now at least.
United go into their fixture against Stoke as the 1.40 favourite and, while Stoke are never an easy side to take on, playing them at Old Trafford gives them a much better opportunity to take three points from the match. You’ll find the Potters priced at a 7.5 margin to get the victory - something that would be seen as a real step backwards for Louis Van Gaal’s men. They lost Angel Di Maria halfway through and then Wayne Rooney was seen limping towards the end of the match as well.
