PREMIER LEAGUE DARTS WEEK EIGHT LATEST ODDS AND BETTING TIPS

The halfway point of the Premier League has been and gone and it is no surprise to see Phil Taylor leading the way at the top of the table. Ronnie Baxter takes up a surprise position of joint-second after he was tipped to collect the wooden spoon, whilst Terry Jenkins props up the table with just one win to his name.
As the players turn for home in pursuit of a top four finish it is Jenkins and Mervyn King who will take to the stage for the first game of the evening in Cardiff. Jenkins has been extremely disappointing in recent weeks; he looks to have lost all confidence in his ability and doesn’t seem to be able to put any pressure on his opponents even when, like last week, they are missing a number of darts at the doubles. At 1.7 (8/11) there is no other option than to back King to take maximum points tonight.

The second match of the night is a tricky one to predict. Simon Whitlock beat King last week to move up to fourth place in the league and just a point behind tonight’s opponent ‘The Rocket’. Whereas Baxter has been continuously written off – by myself included – throughout this tournament, but continues to produce his best darts and put points on the board. Yet If I had to bet on the match odds I’d still plump for Whitlock at 2.3 (5/4) with Betfair. However, these two players hold the highest two checkout scores of the competition and I think the better bet is to back the highest checkout to be over 121.5 with Blue Square.
After a terrible start to the competition James Wade is now unbeaten in four and has won his last two matches. The defending Champion’s steady progression is a direct result of him stepping up his admittedly lacklustre training routine and those changes look to be paying great dividends. This week against Adrian Lewis he may need to be on top of his game once again, but he may also get away with playing well below par, it really does depend on which Lewis turns up. For my money, the value lies in backing the progressing Wade at 2.2 (6/5) with Betfair, but had he been odds on then I might have looked at laying the man they call ‘The Machine’.
