PREMIER LEAGUE DARTS WEEK FOUR LATEST BETTING TIPS
As we go into week four of the Premier League of Darts one thing is becoming certain and that is that this tournament is proving extremely difficult to predict. Few players – Phil Taylor aside – are showing consistent lines of form in either the maximum hitting, checkouts or match results. However, the only line of attack is to keep trying to find angles and clues from previous weeks form and combine that with a little logic and reasoning.
The first match of the night this week is between the games two most talented players; talented but extremely inconsistent. Adrian Lewis showed exactly what he can do when on top form by demolishing Raymond van Barneveld in week two but couldn’t follow that up with a win in week three. James Wade on the other hand hasn’t been able to find a victory all tournament despite being the Premier League defending champion. This is one to approach with small stakes but the slightly bigger price of 2.1 (11/10) on Lewis in the ‘Draw no Bet’ market has to be the selection to side with here, he has after all shown glimpses of form this season.
One player who has steadily improved as he has become acclimatised to the unfamiliar surroundings of the Premier League is Simon Whitlock. Defeat in a tough opening game against Phil Taylor was followed up by a draw against Terry Jenkins then a win against van Barneveld last week, he now looks settled into the Premier League format and hitting 8/9 doubles against Barney last week showed that his finishing is back to its best. He faces another tough opponent in Ronnie Baxter this week but that superior finishing ability should be enough to see him home and at 1.7 (4/6) with Betfair I’ll be backing the Aussie to win this match.
Mervyn King’s 100% start to the Premier League came to an abrupt end last week against Baxter and it was mainly due to the fact that those 120+ finishes, which were becoming his forte, eluded him. Tonight he faces ‘The Bull’ who looked on top of his game last week against Lewis and came up with some big finishes himself to set up the win. Being the draw specialist that Jenkins is would suggest that 5.2 (4/1) is too big a price to ignore especially for those who like to trade in-running on Betfair.
