PREMIER LEAGUE DARTS WEEK THREE BETTING TIPS
Belfast is the latest city to be engulfed by the Premier League of Darts and if it is anywhere near as dramatic as last year’s night in Northern Ireland then we are in for an entertaining evening.
First up is the league’s joint leader Mervyn King who takes on an old stalwart of the game in Ronnie Baxter. Only Terry Jenkins has been a losing finalist on more occasions than Baxter and the years of disappointment caused by defeat have taken their toll on the mental strength of the man that they call ‘The Rocket’. That was evident against Phil Taylor last week when after taking a 4-0 lead he conspired to lose the game 8-6 from such a commanding position, and it wasn’t an unfamiliar sight to see him fail to close out what would have been a memorable victory. King on the other hand is one of the mentally toughest players in the game and that combined with the quality darts that he is throwing is a deadly combination. At 1.55 (8/15) with Betfair, they may seem short odds but King should win this one comfortably.
Second up is the league’s draw specialist Terry Jenkins who takes on Adrian Lewis. Jenkins recorded five 7-7 draws in last year’s event and has begun this season with two draws from two matches, a statistic which shows his battling qualities. However, this match is really all about how Lewis performs. He took the opening six legs in under 15 minutes against Raymond van Barneveld last week in a devastating display of high scoring and clinical finishing, if he comes out of the blocks in a similar fashion this week then Jenkins won’t be able to cope. Back Lewis to be the first to win three legs at 1.65 (4/6) with Betfair.
Barney will aim to get his Premier League aspirations back on track this week, but comes up against a tough opponent in Simon Whitlock. There was little that he or any other player on the circuit could have done to stop Lewis in last week’s match and he won’t be too disheartened that he lost. On the other hand, Whitlock should have closed out his game against Jenkins and may come to rue that result at the end of the league stages. The bookmakers cant split these two and neither can Betfair punters with both players available at around the 2.5 (6/4) mark. Traders should find the draw option a good place to put their money pre-match as I expect this one to be nip and tuck all the way. However, if you’re looking for an outright bet then I’d suggest going for Over 7.5 180’s at 2.3 (11/8) in this match of big hitters.
