Despite Arsenal boasting a four point cushion on the rest of the Premier League Challengers, Manchester City remain the outright betting favourites to actually win the league with a series of blow-out performances really demonstrating how much quality the citizens actually have.
City are priced with Ladbrokes at a fairly competitive 2.62 price tag and that’s likely based on their ability to kick into high gear shortly and sustain it throughout the rest of the season. While there hasn’t been any talk of a mid-season acquisition once the transfer window actually opens up, you can assume that anything can happen - especially with Sheikh Mansour pulling the strings.
Punters will find Chelsea and Arsenal both looking like interesting shouts as they are putting together a solid string of performances. Chelsea have Jose Mourinho back in charge this year and, though it hasn’t seen him reach the talismanic heights as his first Chelsea tenure, he has been able to do well and get results where they are genuinely needed.
The fact remains for Chelsea that the Premier League is likely just as good a reward as Champions League success. It remains to be seen whether that team can genuinely compete on all of those fronts and actually win one of the key competitions. Either way, you know that things aren’t quite right at Chelsea with the presence of Juan Mata perennially on the bench being a particular concern.
