We still have about a week of transfer activity in the English Premier League before the window ultimately slams shut and this one is going to go right down to the wire for a number of talented players. There are a few big (very big) names being bandied about right now and the club that seems to be associated with many of them is Manchester United.

Whether it involves in coming or outgoing players, the subplots developing during the Louis Van Gaal era have been as controversial as any era in recent memory and it remains to be seen whether United can actually get the job done in the next week or not as they seek to sign another big name player and secure the chance of some more big names to add to the roster. 

Louis Van Gaal was in the media this week declaring that he was not expecting to sign another striker because he already had a number of options but you really do have to wonder whether that will merely just be a ploy to lower the price of some of the targets that United may actually currently be working on. 

Watch out for the drama arising from the Pedro saga to really potentially light a fire underneath Louis Van Gaal since it really looks like Chelsea were able to eat their lunch when it mattered most. The quality of play on offer at Chelsea hasn’t really looked up to par in their first few fixtures but they were able to identify and sign the player with relative ease. 

Since Manchester United are such a visible target for the media and drive an incredible amount of international click traffic, there are a pile of different names being bandied about as the next star signing at Old Trafford.
