Premiership Betting Tips - 4th/5th November
The fixture compiler provides just one standout contest in the Premiership this weekend, with Chelsea travelling to North London to play Tottenham. Spurs have not beaten Chelsea in the league since 10th February 1990, when there was no Abramovich and no foreign imports to help Chelsea overcome the likes of Lineker and Gascoigne. Fully expect this run to continue and Chelsea to keep up to Man Utd's early pace setting and take the best price out there - generally 8/11 (VCbet). Spurs looked ordinary at best against Watford, with only Aaron Lennon providing any degree of attacking class. Steven Gerrard is being repeatedly linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu, partly because of Liverpool's erratic form and his supposed lack of desire to remain on the right flank for Liverpool. Similar to reports on the goal-scoring drought Wayne Rooney endured before his hat trick against Bolton last weekend, Gerrard has been criticised as being out of form by many areas of the press. Saturday's display against previously unbeaten Aston Villa was exceptional and Gerrard was notably at his inspirational best. Look for him to score at anytime against Reading this weekend, 6/4 with Bet 365. Wayne Rooney was sublime last weekend. United host Portsmouth on Saturday and Rooney to score the first goal in a highly reasonable 3/1 with Bet 365. Everton travel to South West London to face a Fulham side short on home form. Coming off the back of a battling 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium, David Moyes' outfit must have the belief they can cope with Fulham, whose only two home wins of the season have come against Sheffield Utd and Charlton. Take the 11/8 on offer with Bet 365 as Andy Johnson will look to cause the Cottagers' back four significantly more trouble than he posed at Arsenal. Watford undoubtedly provide the hard luck story of the season so far. Robbed at Bolton and latterly denied a win at home to Spurs by a combination of a shocking offside decision and an even more alarming miss from Tommy Smith, it is scary to put your full weight behind the Hornets as they host Middlesbrough. That said, Aidy Boothroyd's side have shown that it is only a matter of time before that first win of the season arrives and Boro are the ideal opponents to get it against. Excellent against the top sides, abysmal against smaller clubs - not so much a hard luck tale; look for Boro to struggle against the in-form Ashley Young. If Marlon King returns, look to the value 6/4 with Bet 365 for Watford to win.
