Premiership Betting Update (13th Feb)

In an action-packed weekend of Premiership action, the glittering jewel in the crown of performances was Middlesbrough's incredible 3-0 beating of runaway leaders Chelsea at the Riverside Stadium. Brazilian midfielder Fabio Rochemback opened the scoring before the clocks inner wheels had barely set in motion, netting inside just two minutes. The hugely talented, but equally injury prone Stewart Downing added a second dead on the halfway mark, while Yakubu capped a memorable performance with a third in the 68th minute. Chelsea's lead is still cosy. They have 10 points in hand of second-placed Man Utd, who in turn are six points ahead of Liverpool, although the latter side have a game in hand. The Old Trafford outfit, who left Portsmouth with three points on Saturday, are generally 4/9 in the Premiership betting without Chelsea. Rafa Benitez's charges, who will be squaring up against Utd in the FA Cup on February 18, are a top-priced 2/1 with Centre Bet to fill the runners-up spot. The Reds gained a 1-0 verdict away to Wigan at the weekend, showing real determination to grind out a result in a match that was decided by a 30th minute Sami Hyypia goal. The third best in all lists in this market come Arsenal, who are a best-priced 33/1 with Stan James and totesport. The Gunners' indifferent form continued at Highbury on Saturday where an injury-time strike from Gilberto saved them from suffering a third consecutive defeat at the hands of Bolton. The Wanderers have beaten Wenger's men twice at the Reebok this season already - once in the Premiership and also in the FA Cup. Although there's no disgrace in a 1-1 draw against Bolton, Arsenal should be winning such games on home soil.
