Premiership: Blues shorten for title
Chelsea's 4-0 win against Newcastle sees Jose Mourinho's side strengthen their position as VC Bet's Premiership favourites. Mourinho's men had to wait for over an hour of the Stamford Bridge match before opening their account through Frank Lampard but then added a further three goals through Didier Drogba, Arjen Robben and Mateja Kezman. That convincing win has seen Chelsea shortened from 4/6 to 4/7 despite wins for Arsenal and Manchester United at the weekend. Arsenal, who were odds-on for the title a month ago, claimed a much needed three points as they beat Birmingham City 3-0 at Highbury. Arsene Wenger's men remain five points behind Chelsea and are now 7/4 to successfully defend their Premiership crown. Interestingly, Chelsea travel to Highbury on Sunday for what could be the defining match of both sides' respective Premiership campaigns. Third favourites Manchester United - nine points adrift of leaders Chelsea - are 13/2 for the Premiership title after their 3-0 win at home to struggling Southampton. "That's four straight Premiership wins for United and it was interesting to hear Fergie warn the leaders that his side will be back amongst it by the end of the season," said VC Bet's football expert Nick Blezard. "United are now starting to play the kind of stuff that has won them so many trophies but we are still very strong on Chelsea's chances. "They have always been so solid at the back and the fact they have now scored 14 goals in their last four league matches means that they are really starting to fire up front." Liverpool have drifted to 150/1 after drawing 1-1 at Aston Villa but city rivals Everton have been trimmed to 200/1 from 250s following their dramatic 3-2 Goodison win against Bolton Wanderers.
