Premiership: Chelsea now five clear
Arsenal's foundering Premiership form means that city rivals Chelsea are now 4/6 with VC Bet to claim this season's Premiership title. The Gunners' 2-1 defeat at Liverpool means the north Londoners have claimed just one win from their last nine matches in all competitions and are now five points adrift of Chelsea. Jose Mourinho's Premiership leaders gave another demonstration of their championship credentials with a 4-0 thrashing of Charlton Athletic on Saturday - a result that had VC Bet's football department purring. "The manner of the win was superb but what impressed us most was the hunger that the Chelsea players showed in achieving the victory. "It reminded me of Arsenal last year and next Saturday's opponents Newcastle could be in for similar punishment," said VC Bet's football expert Nick Blezard. Mourinho's side have now accumulated 36 points from 15 games. Blezard added that the Merseyside defeat for Arsenal would see the Gunners' confidence dip further. "Arsene Wenger must have been very happy to see Neil Mellor and Florent Pongolle leading the attack for Liverpool when he arrived at Anfield on Sunday. "So to lose the game against an understrength Liverpool is another big blow to their self belief. "To compare the confidence of Chelsea and Arsenal right now is like comparing chalk and cheese." Manchester United, nine points adrift of Chelsea, are now rated as 6/1 chances following their 3-0 win at West Brom. The Merseyside duo of Liverpool and Everton are 66/1 and 250/1 respectively.
