Premiership Transfer Gossip Betting: Emile Heskey Leaving Wigan
One of the biggest question marks going into January 1st is the future whereabouts of Emile Heskey. At the moment, Betfair oddsmakers seem to think Heskey is heading for the exit as Wigan will be looking to cash in on the England hitman. THE ODDSThe logic behind cashing in on Heskey is the fact that he is yet to renegotiate a contract with the Latics and they may be looking to sell him for a few million pounds before he is available on a Bosman free transfer in June. Certainly, the fact that he has become a pillar of Fabio Capello's England side has factored heavily into the equation. HESKEY'S FORMHaving proved to be the ultimate partner for Wayne Rooney has seen Heskey's stock rise in the past year and a half. While his goalscoring rate isn't particularly impressive for a striker, Heskey has emerged as more of a playmaker forward than he was in his previous heyday at Liverpool when he lined up alongside Michael Owen on a regular basis. A number of top sides are interested in Heskey and they include Liverpool, West Ham, Spurs and cash-rich Manchester City. Personally, I think that City is the most likely option as no other team will be able to match their offer- both in terms of transfer fee and wages. I can also see him creating an excellent partnership with Robinho, as the big man/little man tandem has proved successful for Heskey in the past.
