Punters sweet on Badds at Sugarloaf

Aussie Aaron Baddeley is VC Bet's best backed player at this week's Bell South Classic. The ace putter's opening show of 66/1 has proved too good for punters to resist but odds man Richard Friend believes that no previous experience for 'Badds' at Sugarloaf will count against him. "He's had a tremendous run from the Nissan Open to Bay Hill this season but those fine results arrived on courses he's played solidly at in the past," said Friend. "With no knowledge of Sugarloaf he's at an automatic disadvantage to so many others and that makes him ideal laying material." Baddeley missed the cut at last week's Players Championship with closing rounds of 80 and 78. Big hitting Swede Daniel Chopra and defending champion Zac Johnson are two other players who have received fiscal interest. "There's not a great deal of trouble off the tees in this event and that will suit Chopra who can sometimes need satellite navigation system to locate his ball. "If his putting holds up he could be a potential worry for me on Sunday," Friend admitted. Chopra's best result in 2005 was a 16th place finish at February's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. "In-form Johnson has obvious claims but a lot of people seem to forget that he almost bottled a big final round lead last year. "A double bogey on the front nine and four bogeys on the back nine made life very uncomfortable for his backers. "That said, he's a better player 12 months on but it is asking a lot for him to follow up last year's win." Friend said that he was amazed to see how much Steve Elkington's outright quotes have tumbled in the space of two weeks. "The guy barely appeared at 500s in the pricewise tables a couple of weeks ago is as short as 33/1 for this event!"
