REAL MADRID CHAMPIONS LEAGUE ODDS UNCHANGED IN WAKE OF KAKA SIGNING
Since Real Madrid completed the signing of Kaka for a world record £56 million pounds, the Betfair layers haven't moved an inch by leaving their overall price to win the 2009/10 Champions League unchanged at 10.0. The 27 year-old Brazilian has informed the press that one of the chief reasons why he moved from AC Milan to the Bernabeu was to help improve Milan's increasingly precarious financial standing. With new (sort of) president of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez proclaiming a new era of "galacticos" the signing of Kaka was meant to instil a sense of new optimism that would propel Los Merengues back to the upper echelons of European football. If you're listening to where the money's at on Betfair- people remain unconvinced. As it currently stands, FC Barcelona is listed as the favourite to secure the next edition of the coveted European trophy at 5.6. Manchester United, this year's runner-up, are listed at 6.8 while Chelsea sit at 9.0. Real Madrid are just a notch ahead of Liverpool, who sit at 11, with Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan carrying a 12.0 price. Milan's odds have dropped and are now trading at around 17.0, just behind Arsenal at 16.5. Juventus is listed at 24.0 and Bayern Munich trade at 25.0. There is talk of more signings this summer and we all know it's only a matter of time before the annual Cristiano Ronaldo saga kicks up again, but despite just spending a fortune on one of the most widely-appreciated players in the world- it doesn't appear to have helped Madrid's Champions League chances.
