RED BULLS VS SPURS PREDICTIONS AND LATEST BETTING TIPS

We’re a few hours away from kick-off in this widely-anticipated fixture that not only pits the Champions League-bound Spurs side against a well-supported American team, but when you add in the subplot that this is Thierry Henry’s US debut you get the feeling that this is going to be a very special fixture.

Betting on Spurs was briefly suspended by popular bookmaker Ladbrokes and I suspect it may have to do with betting volume. Their price of even-money has held up though and I think that’s very interesting. They will likely be seeing the bulk of the betting here so holding the price indicates confidence in the Red Bulls ability to get the job done.
New York Red Bulls’ odds to beat Spurs are priced at 3.2 with the draw available at a 3.25 margin. That’s not a bad bet for New York fans or anybody who thinks that Spurs may start this one a little slowly.
If you fancy Tottenham to completely dominate this fixture, then you should back them to take both legs of the half-time/full-time market at a 3.4 price. Draw/Spurs pays out at 4.5 while draw/draw is also available at 4.5.
The over/under on goals is set at 2.5 with the over being favoured by a small margin. You can back it at 1.84 or take the under, which is priced at 2.5. Many observers thought the Manchester United vs Philadelphia Union match would be a goal-feast and it turned out to be a 1-0 victory with a goal from Gabriel Obertan.
The second half is favoured to have the most goals, priced at even-money, but you’re in for a solid payout if you figure the first half will have more strikes. You can back that at 3.0 while a tie is priced at 3.4. If you fancy a low-scoring match, the tie there is a decent bet.
I think that if Henry starts then they will look to get him the ball as often as possible. I don’t think he will be as incisive against a Spurs side as he would be against, say, Real Salt Lake. However, I do think that his pace and goalscoring ability gives Red Bulls a real wildcard here. Henry thrives on the big stages and if he can put together a big performance tonight then it will be mission-accomplished, regardless of the end result.
