Ricky Hatton vs Manny Pacquiao Fight Cancelled! Oscar De La Hoya Set to Face Hatton in the UK or Ireland!

The world of boxing is definitely in flux right now and the cancellation of a fight between two of its biggest stars- Ricky Hatton and Manny Pacquiao is definitely a fly in the ointment. However, all is not lost for top-class boxing fans as there are now rumors circulating that Oscar De La Hoya is set for one last fight against Hatton. The fight, which was originally scheduled for May 2nd in Las Vegas, would have paid both fighters the princely sum of £8m apiece, but Pacquiao was demanding a 60/40 split. Hatton's camp balked at that for obvious reasons. The word on the street within the boxing community is that Pacquiao was petrified of losing against Hatton as it would have seriously derailed his meteoric rise to the pugilistic Promised Land. Oscar De La Hoya hasn't retired yet, after Pacquiao wiped the floor with him last December and he could venture across the Atlantic for one last superfight/epic payday. The other names being touted include the winner of the Juan Manuel Marquez/Juan Diaz fight which is scheduled to go down on February 28. The other option, admittedly a longer one, is that Floyd Mayweather Jr may come out of retirement for Hatton-Mayweather II. If that fight was to happen on UK soil, you can only imagine the electricity in the room.Should Hatton face off against Oscar De La Hoya, you would have to make Hatton the outright favourite, likely in the neighbourhood of 4/6 against a 10/3 for De La Hoya. Bookmakers are yet to release any odds, but De La Hoya would try to win rounds and likely try to pursue a points victory, but I'm confident that Hatton will likely KO or TKO Oscar anywhere between the 6 and 9th round- right where he got into serious trouble against Pacquiao. De La Hoya is a stand-up guy and will always go down as a boxing legend, but I feel as though his time is pretty much up and a Hatton win would set the stage for the Mayweather Rematch around Christmas.
