Hatton, one of Britain's most high-profile (and most affable) sportsmen, was knocked out by Floyd Mayweather in an extremely high-profile fight last year. The fight turned out to be Mayweather's last as he has since gone on to a career spanning commercial endorsements and a stint as World Wrestling Entertainment champion.
Hatton bounced back from the disappointing loss by beating Mexican Juan Lazcano a few months ago and he looks be in good touch going into the match at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
MALIGNAGGI THE UNDERDOG
The American fighter, born in Brooklyn has only one career loss on his record with 5 of his 25 wins coming by knock out. A keen amateur boxing for quite some time, Malignaggi was famous for winning the New York Golden Gloves Amateur Championship twice in both 1998 and 2001. He goes by the nickname "The Magic Man."
MAYWEATHER MAGIC
In an interesting turn of events, Hatton is actually being coached by Floyd Mayweather Senior the father of the fighter who defeated him last December. Mayweather Sr. is famous having trained Oscar De La Hoya in the early part of the decade.
Totesport is offering up some excellent odds for the November 22 battle. Hatton is the favourite for the fight, listed at 1/3 while Malignaggi is a longer 21/10. Hatton to win by KO, TKO or DQ is 5/2 while Malignaggi by KO, TKO or DQ pays a much longer 12/1. Calling an individual round by knock out will pay anywhere from 25/1-33/1 for Hatton and a range of 50/1-80/1 for Malignaggi.
