RORY MCILROY ODDS TO WIN 2010 OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP COLLAPSE FROM 16/1 TO 3/1

Bookmakers are likely thanking the heavens that they listed Rory McIlroy at such short pre-tournament odds before the 2010 Open Championship at St Andrews kicked off. It's developing into a fascinating state of affairs over in Fife and McIlroy produced a breathtaking performance, carding an incredible -9 on this infamously challenging course.

Our tip on John Daly to put in a more than solid performance also looks to be paying off and he was more or less our chief outside bet here. We suggested you back him to finish top 10 at an 8/1 price and you'll find him in a three-way tie for third palce, sitting at six under. I told you Daly was here to play!
Tiger Woods is now trading as the second favourite to win the 2010 Open with popular UK bookmaker Ladbrokes pricing Woods at a 4/1 price to win a hat-trick of majors at St Andrews. You'll find Woods in a nine-way tie for sixth with the likes of Sean O'Jair, Lucas Glover, Nick Watney and Bradley Dredge neck and neck with Woods. I think it's job-done today for Tiger as he will pour it on during day 3 and 4, so right now it's just about staying close.
A quick examination of the odds shows this one shaping up a lot like a horse race with an early-speed type getting out to the front and the tactical speed horse just loping along a length behind, tucked in at the rail. 3/1 McIlroy is setting the early pace and I think Tiger might well be licking his chops if he improves on day 2. This will be a massive media coup for Tiger Woods if he turns back the clock and recaptures peoples hearts with a dramatic final day victory at St Andrews. McIlroy is no slouch though, and the large amount of UK & Irish golfers at the top end of the leaderboard speaks volumes about the type of luck the home team are having here.
As it currently stands in the odds market, we've got McIlroy at 3/1, Woods at 4/1, Lee Westwood trades at 7/1 and then the odds take a big jump up to Louis Oosthuizen at 21.0 (not bad value on the current second place golfer), Phil Mickelson is listed at 26.0 and Graeme McDowell at 34.0.
John Daly's odds to win the 2010 Open are trading at 34.0 and I say back that on the each-way. Ladbrokes is paying 1/4 odds on the top 5 places and I think Daly wouldn't have come this far if he wasn't going to give this one a right go.
Ernie Els, Luke Donald, Paul Casey, Retief Goosen, Martin Kaymer, Robert Karlsson, Steve Stricker, Phil Hanson and Justin Rose are all priced ar 41.0.
Take a poke through the odds at Ladbrokes and see what you can come up with. Day Two's action will have plenty of match betting selections as well as three-ball and mythical two-ball betting!
