ROTTERDAM TENNIS BETTING TIPS DJOKOVIC vs. CHIUDINELLI

Novak Djokovic advanced into the second round of the ABN AMRO rather easily after Sergiy Stakhovsky called it quits in the second set of their first round encounter. Next up for Djokovic, the newly installed world No.2, is Swiss Marco Chiudinelli. William Hill is taking action on their scintillating matchup, listing Djokovic as the whopping 1/16 favourite and Chiudinelli, the 7/1 puppy, natch.
The pair met once before this season, as recently as the Aussie Open second round, wherein Chiudinelli surprised Djokovic by snatching the first set. Chiudinelli fizzled in four sets, which made his great start come to naught. He did suffer a foot injury at the end of the first set, though that doesn’t mean that had he been fit, he would have been able to mastermind the upset.
Of course, he has a second shot at Djokovic in Rotterdam in as many weeks. Crucially, the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament is a 250-point ATP Tour event, played to the tune of a best-of-three sets. In a three-set scenario, underdogs have a better shot to mastermind the upset than they would in a best-of-five-scenario at a Grand Slam. The finish line is closer. Might he complete what he started in Melbourne.
The tennis-betting trend in the market will most likely side with Djokovic. How could it not. The difference between No.2 Djokovic and No.54 Chiudinelli is not subtle. There is a huge gap in talent, calibre, quality... in short, anything and everything to do with their standard and game. We are talking about two different articles in the men’s game. Keeping in mind also, Djokovic is the strong short-odds-on favourite in the market to cap a successful week in Rotterdam, listed at 13/8.
Yet piling on top of Djokovic’s odds in the outright market is not going to bring you a landslide win. Hedging a small play on Chiudinelli’s tempting odds in the outright market might be the way to go. In fairness, the bet would be a long shot, only a small chance of coming through and not the investment-to-return ratio that is attractive to everyone.
The real value plays are in the peripheral markets, focused on the individual performance of each player, from betting on the score, the games handicap, the sets and so forth.
Djokovic to win in straight sets is trading at a favourable 1/6 while Chiudinelli is tipped large at 16/1. A three set win carries a price of 11/2 to Djokovic and 14/1 to Chiudinelli. The number of sets in this match sees a two-setter priced at 1/7 and a three-setter at 4/1, either of which would be an additional compliment bet to whichever way you might have sliced the match above.
Predicting the score is perhaps the toughest but punters, by a process of elimination, can select some of the more realistic options. A 6-2 or 6-4 win in the first set is offered at a reasonable 7/2 while a 6-2 score is trading at 3/1 for Djokovic. Chiudinelli to take the first set in any manner, irrespective of the score, is listed at hallucinatory odds. As such, there could be great angles for profit. A 6-4 score trading at 16/1 is within reason as is a 7-5 or 7-6 score, trading at 30/1 and 18/1 respectively.
