ROY HODGSON ODDS DROP SHARPLY IN NEXT LIVERPOOL MANAGER MARKET AT BETFAIR
It clearly looks as though there's a run on Roy Hodgson that has developed over the past few hours. We had reported on another sharp price drop in favour of Manuel Pellegrini earlier today, but shortly after that the market saw another rush of betting volume and the landscape does look a little different right now.
Roy Hodgson's odds as next Liverpool manager were trading at an extremely short 1.66. This, by far, the shortest price that the Fulham manager has been listed at. I'm not sure whether this is related to a rejection of the rumour that Manuel Pellegrini received an "offer from England" that has been floating around the internet for the past day or two.
The volume is fairly heavy and the price is jumping around quickly but Hodgson was holding well below 2.0 for the first time since the market has been opened. He has since crept back up to the 2.0 margin and then dropped back to around 1.8. The action in the market seems to favour Roy Hodgson getting the appointment.
This also coincides with backers retreating off of Manuel Pellegrini, although not in especially dramatic numbers. You'll find Manuel Pellegrini's odds to be named Next Liverpool Manager trading at a 4.1 price at the time of this writing. He had been up towards 5.0 for a while and then came back down to the 4.0 threshold quite quickly and the price seems to be holding.
Kenny Dalglish looks out of this at 14.0 while Jurgen Klinsmann's priced has doubled from a few days ago and he's priced around 23.0 at the moment. It is also worth a mention that Guus Hiddink has dropped to 6.0, but that just might be a temporary drop. I think that is a selection to keep your eye on right now but I wouldn't advise backing that.
It may just be a temporary blip, but Roy Hodgson is now trading around an odds-on to be Next Liverpool manager on the open betting exchange at Betfair.
