RUBY WALSH SET TO RIDE MY WILL IN GRAND NATIONAL
He put in an outstanding run to finish fifth behind some of the biggest and best names in jumps racing at the 2009 Cheltenham Festival- now we're seeing My Will beginning to extend his grip over the ante-post market for the 2009 John Smith's Grand National at Aintree. While he may not have recorded any significant victories over the past year or two, he's come awfully close against some absolutely first-rate runners like Kauto Star, Madison Du Berlais, Exotic Dancer and Our Vic. The Nicholls camp has been keeping their eye on Aintree for the entire season and some were surprised to see him competing at the Gold Cup at all. Seemingly a dry-run, he surprised many with his solid performance against a field of 16. Currently, you'll find him around 8/1 in the ante-post market and there's currently nobody listed at shorter odds. He was originally available around 11/1 and while many of us expected him to be at shorter odds come post time, many observers didn't assume he'd be topping the table for so long. At this point, only Rambling Minster has been listed at 8/1 and he's drifted northwards back to 10/1. It was announced today to the horseracing public that the Nicholls camp has secured the services of the venerable Ruby Walsh- who knows a thing or two about Grand National victories, to pilot My Will into this year's Grand National.
