SAINTS AT 49ERS MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL BETTING PREVIEW
NFL Action kicks off again tonight with a high-profile fixture involving the New Orleans Saints and the San Francisco 49ers. Drew Brees leads his defending Super Bowl champions out against a side that got stuffed by the underwhelming Seattle Seahawks last week. A number of NFL observers had assumed San Francisco were the ones to beat in their division and they will certainly need to make a statement tonight if they’re going to do anything serious this season.
The 49ers odds are trading at 19/10 with William Hill and that’s hardly surprising as they are the distinct underdogs here. Not many people expect them to win, but they should at least acquit themselves fairly well or it could serve as proof positive that things are going from bad to worse.
The money line for New Orleans vs San Francisco shows the Saints odds at 10/23 and the point spread is listed at New Orleans (-5.0). The general consensus is that they should be able to cover the spread no problem.
The over/under on total points is set at 43.5 and that’s a tricky one as we could see a lopsided scoreline here. If you’re betting the over, you generally need both teams to play at least a solid match and if New Orleans was at home, you’d say jump all over it. That may be one for the in-play punters.
There are some alternative point spreads out there if you are genuinely confident in the Saints and you can get them (-7.0) at an even money price while (-10.0) trades at a solid 6/4. A (-11.5) handicap on New Orleans will pay an enticing 7/4.
The first half point spread should be an easy one for the Saints with a (-3.0) being more than do-able. New Orleans are favoured to score the first touchdown and you can grab an 8/13 price tag while the 49ers to open the scoring is rewarding at an 11/10 price. The 49ers are favoured to be the team with the most turnovers with William Hill pricing them at 23/20 while New Orleans is listed at 8/5. A draw here pays 3/1.
The best out there for those who fancy the Saints to dominate the fixture is likely to be New Orleans to win both halves and you can back that at a 15/8 price tag with William Hill.
