San Marino vs England Betting Preview
- By Rex Dalton on March 22, 2013 17:41 GMTIt looks to be setting up for another one of those walk-over fixtures that supporters use as more of an opportunity to get on the drinks early on a Friday, as opposed to something they really plan to get absorbed in. Case in point is today’s fixture between England and San Marino where the question really looks to be “how many?”

As it currently stands, anybody looking to bet on the outright result seems to enjoy letting bookmakers hold on to their money temporarily as England float at a 1/100 price while any victory for San Marino would reward at a full 100/1. The draw, which would be one of the lowest results in English history, trades at 20/1.
Even England to win the double result (earning a victory in both halves) pays out at a mere 1/25.
The opportunities here are likely in the goalscorer markets and the corners markets as England will be looking to do some damage by putting on a lot of pressure in front of goal.
Wayne Rooney is the leading fancy to get an anytime score with a slim 1/5 listing for a goal at any point in the fixture. He is also at a mere 7/4 to score first or last and he’s only 11/4 to grab a hat trick. The question is whether he’s going to be on the pitch long enough to grab one as you reckon they don’t want to risk him for a full match.
Daniel Sturridge is also getting plenty of support and he’s priced at 1/4 anytime and 2/1 first or last. Jermain Defoe and Danny Welbeck both trade at 4/11 anytime while Frank Lampard is a 4/9 shot for an anytime goal.
William Hill is offering up a 2/1 promotion wager should Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard both score at any point in the match.
England to take the lead early and win the first 15 minutes rewards at a fairly tidy 5/6. If you really think they’re hungry enough and will be ready to roll coming right out of the gate - then this is definitely the best price you’re going to find all day.
