Scotland v Norway Preview
When one of the Scottish players was asked at the press conference whether Scotland would win?..he answered yes?..but then when asked why he thought so, he ended up laughing and saying that he didn't know why. You get the feeling though that they will. They are due a change in fortune, and this could be the game. You couldn't describe this as a "must win" game, but Scotland will feel that this is a game they can and should win. Home advantage will help the Scots. A full Hampden is worth something alone, and at 15/8 they will feel they have every chance. Norway are tough opponents though and are rightly the favourites on the day at 5/4 with Stan James. The Draw is 11/5. The one problem for the Scots is that they have a few key players out injured. Steven Pressley, nicknamed Elvis, is the latest and they'll miss his presence in defence. Berti Vogts, often at times more like Bertie Bassett, also has experienced players like Jackie McNamara, Malky Mackay and Christain Dailly out, so from that point of view things aren't ideal. Norway are no mugs in International football, and they'll be up for this after a disappointing start. They have just one point from two games. All the indications are that they will be playing a physical game and the bookings index could be high as a result. They will want to capitalize on the weaknesses of the Scottish. One area is their keeper. It 's going to be a choice between Celtic 19-year-old David Marshall or Hearts' 21-year-old, Craig Gordon. The cliché about dodgy Scottish keepers could raise it's ugly head again. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />Hampden will be buzzing on Saturday and the atmosphere will lift the Scots and just might be the difference between the two sides. All the markets are available at stanjames.com, and with the game live on Sky we'll be betting In-Running up until the 80th minute. There will also be plenty of revised markets at half time.
