Series A Countdown and La Liga Update
Serie A Countdown Juventus are now as short as 1/7 with Stan James after beating AC Milan in the much awaited top of the table clash on Sunday. Ac Milan are now 4/1 to pick up the Serie A title. Juventus are three points ahead with just three games to play, and they have a relatively easy run in with games against Parma at home, and then games against mid table opposition. Livorno away and then their final game at home to Cagliari. AC Milan meanwhile have a slightly harder run in against Lecce away, Palermo at home and then a tricky game away to Udinese, who are tussling with Sampdoria for the spare Champions League Qualification spot. At the bottom the relegation battle is really hotting up. Any one of seven clubs could still go down, including a free falling Roma side who have an interesting run in to say the least. With just nine points available, it's conceivable that that they might not pick up any. First up they have the Rome derby against Lazio, and this could go either way. If they were to lose this match then the alarm bells will be on full blast. Then they have to travel to bottom club Atalanta, who by that time will have to win this game at all costs. Then they face Chievo at home and again it's a must win game for the Verona outfit. If Roma were to go down it would rank as one of the biggest shocks in recent Serie A history. The one saving grace is that a lot of clubs in the relegation dogfight have to play each other, but Roma fans must be wondering what has gone wrong and could be reaching for the prayer mat.La Liga CountdownA great win by Barcelona in Valencia looks to have sealed their grip on the La Liga title, but could there be a final twist? The odds at Stan James seem to suggest not. Barca are now as short as 1/150, with Real Madrid at 14/1. This weekend they face Levante away and this will not be a foregone conclusion. Levante need to win this desperately to avoid the drop and they'll fight to the death. Next up will be fourth placed Villareal at home. If it's not won by then, they will have to be on their guard as Villareal are no mugs and they will want to win to claim one of the all important Champions League Qualification spots. Luckily for them their last game is relatively close, being away at Real Sociedad and if you believe the murmurings coming out of the capital, their Catalan opponents could have sympathetic leanings towards them as well. Real Madrid though have a really tough run in. Firstly next weekend away to third placed Sevilla, then they have the Madrid derby at home to Atletico and then away to Real Zaragoza. It's a lot to ask that Real Madrid can turn this around, but football is a funny game.At the bottom Numancia are down, and Albacete need a small miracle to survive. But third from bottom Mallorca are probably sniffing the wind and fancy their chances of avoiding the drop. They are three points away from their nearest rivals, Levante and it won't have gone unnoticed that Barcelona are the visitors there this weekend. If Levante were to lose and Mallorca win their home game against mid table Bilbao then it's game on. The reason is that Levante would then have to win their Valencian derby against their neighbouring giants and get something from a trip to Villareal, currently in fourth spot. Mallorca have to travel to Deportivo away and then at home to Real Betis on the final day of the season. It will be interesting stuff. Go to Stan James now and get your free twenty five pound bet!
