Several Enticing Match-Ups in Tuesday’s Champions League Action
- By Allan Pederson on November 22, 2010 18:21 GMTWe’re getting down to the business end of the Champions’ League Group Stages, and several groups are completely wide open at the moment.
There are a few top-class match-ups on Tuesday, and we’ll be taking a look at some of the more exciting ones.
Ajax vs. Real Madrid looks a promising one with two former European Champions set to duke it out in Amsterdam. Cristiano Ronaldo and Mesut Ozil will be looking to dominate the proceedings here and it will take a real performance from Ajax to stop them. Gonzalo Higuain got the better of Ajax last time out and scoring first will be of vital importance for the Dutch side. Madrid enter as 5/4 favourites with Ajax at 2/1 and the draw trading at 5/2.
Chelsea vs. Zilina looks a lopsided contest in the early going with Zilina priced at a hefty 16/1 to pull off what would surely be the final nail in the coffin for Carlo Ancelotti. The rug looks to have been nearly swept out from under him as rumours circulated on Sunday that he offered his resignation to the Chelsea board. Anything but a win here would be a total disaster for 1/7 favourites Chelsea.
Braga vs. Arsenal likely won’t be the stroll it was during the opening match between these two when Arsene Wenger’s men put six past the beleaguered Portuguese. Arshavin and Van Persie will not travel with Arsenal and that should open up the door for Nicklas Bendtner, who has found himself increasingly on the periphery this season. Arsenal come in as odds-on favourites at 10/11 while Braga are 3/1 to keep their Champions League dream alive – this is a must-win for the hosts.
Roma vs. Bayern Munich could easily wind up being the champagne match of the day and punters will be relishing the 10/3 price available on Bayer Munich. They’ve been scoring goals for fun during the Group Stages and Mueller and Klose both combined to shatter Roma late-on in their last fixture. The hosts are odds-on at 4/5 but this one could wind up being a tougher one than it might look for Roma.
