Sevilla come out on top in goalfest?
The Uefa Champions League gets underway again this week and with Arsenal and Sevilla set to lock horns in London on Wednesday we're rubbing our hands at the prospect of a goalfest. The match marks the Andalusian side's bow in the continent's elite competition but, having become the first side to successfully defend the Uefa Cup last season, they are no European slouches. Juande Ramos's side were in the running for the Spanish title last season until injuries and involvement in three club competitions took their toll in the last fortnight of the campaign and this season they will be a force to be reckoned with again. Despite the tragic death of defender Antonio Puerta, Sevilla impressed in Champions League qualifying with a 4-1 second leg success at AEK Athens and they have backed up that result with two home wins by exactly the same scoreline against Recreativo Huelva and Getafe. Former Tottenham man Freddie Kanoute and Aleksandr Kerzakov have scored four goals each already this term and have developed a frightening understanding that is sure to create Arsenal's injury-hit defence problems. The Gunners are still without William Gallas, Emmanuel Eboue and Jens Lehmann and if they leave themselves nearly as open as they did against Spurs at the weekend, Sevilla are unlikely to be as profligate as their north London rivals. Arsenal cannot help themselves when it comes to pouring forward and will most likely adopt the same cavalier approach, which will leave space for the likes of Daniel Alves and Luis Fabiano to exploit. Both sides play an expansive game so I think we are also likely to see it raining goals at Ashburton Grove, with the visitors announcing their arrival on the big stage with victory in a high-scoring game. Elsewhere, Inter Milan may find it hard-going when they take on Fenerbahce in Istanbul. Notoriously slow starters in Europe, Roberto Mancini's side are also paying for their brawl against Valencia last season. Defenders Nicolas Burdisso and Maicon received six-match bans while Ivan Cordoba and Julio Cruz are out for three and two matches respectively. Patrick Vieira is also doubtful after picking up an injury playing for France and Marco Materazzi is out long term. Fener coach Zico has brought in Roberto Carlos from Real Madrid and boasts Stephen Appiah and Mateja Kezman in his ranks. His side have yet to set the Turkish Super Lig on fire yet this season and go into the match on the back of two 1-1 draws. But Inter will probably settle for the away point and so another draw will be the likeliest outcome here. Elsewhere, a home fourfold on Chelsea, Real Madrid, Roma and AC Milan is advised. Chelsea should wipe the floor with Rosenborg, Real will have no problem at the Bernabeu against a fading Werder Bremen who lost 3-0 at the weekend, Roma, who have a 100 per cent record in Serie A should make light work of Dynamo Kiev, and AC Milan welcome back Kaka and Pirlo for the visit of injury-ravaged Benfica.
