Shall we dance?
This year's line-up for Strictly Come Dancing whirls its way onto our screens on October 6th and reads more like a 'who are they?' than a 'who's who' of celebrity. But it is already a success with every red-blooded UK male between the ages of 16-75. The reason? Kelly Brook. Two words that conjure up beauty, elegance and no doubt other things with the news that her sultry moves have already driven professional dance partner Brendon Cole into a lather in traning and she will appear in the first show in a skimpy flesh-coloured outfit, or in other words, very nearly naked. If only she wasn't engaged to that bloke for Titanic, if only she hadn't moved to LA, if only... (ok enough 'if onlys', Ed). Unfortunately for Kelly, the aforementioned menfolk that she'll be keeping glued to their TVs are not the ones who pick up the phone and cast their votes so while she is a winner in a lot of people's eyes she does not lead the betting. William Hill have priced up this year's contenders and make ex-soap star Letitia Dean the 5/1 favourite - whoever said that England was a nation of couch potatoes was not far wrong and she will appeal to the blue-rinse brigade who traditionally clog the phone networks with their votes. Past winners of this show have included professional sportsman - who can forget Darren Gough in a gold-spangled leotard? - and another of this rare breed is fancied in the shape of former Liverpool winger and thankfully former Channel five TV presenter John Barnes. "Barnes was something of a twinkle toes on the wing for England and the competition looks set up for him," said Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams. "The line up is all we could have wished for with celebrities from all walks of life which should mean excellent viewing figures and we fully expect this year's show to smash last year's betting turnover of £1 million." Other notables (people i've heard of) are the first husband and wife duo to appear, Kenny and Gabby Logan (where does she find the time?) and former Dynasty babe Stephanie Beacham who is looking for a swansong in a career that reached its pinnacle in Howard's Way in my humble opinion. Rod Stewart's other half Penny Lancaster is out to prove she can do something other than look nice on a Scotsman's arm while Willie Thorne is out to prove a former snooker pro can win the heart's of the nation, erm good luck Willie... Strictly Come Dancing: Letitia Dean 5/1, Matt D' Angelo 6/1, Kelly Brook 6/1, Gethin Jones 7/1, Alesha Dixon 7/1, John Barnes 8/1, Kenny Logan 9/1, Gabby Logan 9/1, Penny Lancaster 10/1, Kate Garraway 12/1, Brian Capron 12/1, Dom Littlewood 14/1, Willie Thorne 20/1, Stephanie Beacham 20/1 (William Hill) (Editor's Note: Joking aside, big money can be made on events like this as the bookies do not know how the stars will perform and all they can price up on is the stars' relative fame.
