SHARRON ANGLE WILL BEAT HARRY REID IN NEVADA SENATE MIDTERM: BOOKMAKERS
Things look to be going from bad to worse for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in his quest to get re-elected in Nevada. The under-fire Democrat has been staring less-than-favourable poll numbers in the face for the past several weeks and now he has been hit by a one-two punch that he may not be able to shake off- Angle is out-raising him and the bookies now have him listed as the clear underdog.
The momentum is clearly in Sharron Angle’s favour as the main headline on Drudge Report confirms that Angle has raised a whopping $14,000,000 between July 1 and September 30. If anybody was looking for proof positive that all local races are now national races then you’ve got it right here. Angle is out-fundraising Reid by a large margin and he has only been able to raise $18,000,000 in the entire election season.
Popular Irish bookmaker Paddy Power had both candidates listed at 5/6 (-120) just last week but they have now clipped Sharron Angle’s price to 8/11 (-137.5) while Harry Reid is trading at even-money (+100).
England based bookie Victor Chandler, known as the gentleman’s bookmaker, are listing an identical slate of odds on the Nevada Senate race- proof that the Paddy Power odds aren’t an anomaly.
Sharron Angle definitely is putting the money to use as she is engaging in a very aggressive direct mail campaign- which can pay massive dividends but also be extremely costly. Angle defeated two establishment Republican candidates to get a shot at the Nevada Senate seat and she was able to accomplish a lot without a huge amount of funds in the primary races. She looks to be making her cash-advantage pay off and if she can keep the momentum going then you would expect to see a price cut to 1/2 within the next week. Reid must stop the bleeding now if he’s going to have any chance.
Democrats look to be running scared from the populist message of the Tea Party movement and its ability to put massive amounts of campaign cash into the coffers of conservative candidates.
