SLOVENIA VS ENGLAND PREDICTIONS AND WORLD CUP 2010 BETTING TIPS
We're less than 24 hours away from kick-off in the biggest England match in nearly a generation as Fabio Capello's formerly formidable side attempt to stave off elimination by notching their first victory.
The bobbled save by Robert Green now looks even more important as the three points from a victory over the United States would have more or less put England through by now.
I knew that there was something wrong with that squad after watching the Algeria match and it looks to me like it was John Terry all along. He has obviously lost faith in Capello and is trying to get the team leaders to back him in crictizing the Italians squad selections and tactics. It's not like these things aren't supposed to be open to debate, but to do so in a public manner is obviously one of the things that has the team so strained and disheartened-looking.
It appears, however, that many people believe England are going to turn it all around and pull off this victory- ensuring qualification for the round of 16.
England are listed at 1.44 with popular bookmaker Bet365 to win the match while Slovenia are listed at 7.5. The draw is trading at 4.5 and that doesn't look like it would necessarily be enough for the English side.
The bookmakers look like they favour goals as the over/under on goals has over 2.5 priced at 2.0 and the under at 1.9. I can certainly see a few flying in during this match. I don't think Slovenia will be able to just defend this one, so England seeing plenty of the ball should ensure a few goals- provided we don't see another horror show.
Wayne Rooney's odds to score against Slovenia are priced at 1.9 while Peter Crouch is sitting at 2.87. A lot of the other players are at higher prices than usual and I think that's based on the fact that nobody is too sure who's actually going to play.
I think that we may see John Terry start on the bench for this one. It will be interesting to read the players body language during this match and it could be a generation-defining performance. For better or worse.
