Slumdog Millionaire All Set For Oscars Glory After Sweeping Golden Globes

With critics and fans around the world falling for Danny Boyle's masterpiece of 2008 Slumdog Millionaire and its sweeping the Golden Globe Awards by bagging four of them, it is now the turn of the Academy Awards to go its way.Slumdog Millionaire is now the Odds on favourite to win the Oscar for the Best Motion Picture for 2008 with various UK bookmakers. The nominations for Oscars will be announced only on Jan 22nd 2009, but the buzz for Slumdog Millionaire is as strong as the certainty of Heath Ledger getting the Golden Globe earlier. Both Paddy Power and Bet365 make it their top favourite at 2/5 which seems like very enticing sure win odds for punters. Slumdog Millionaire has swept all the awards till now including the People's Choice award and the Critics Awards and we don't find much reason for it not bagging the Oscar also.Betting Choice had earlier backed Slumdog Millionaire to bag the Golden Globe for the best movie when it was being offered at near Evens odds by the bookmakers. It is said that Golden Globe awards are a prediction of the Academy awards, we feel that Oscars might see some changes in the winners in other categories but it is going to be the Slumdog Millionaire again to bag the best motion picture Oscar and it is a nice bet at 2/5.Its nearest competitor is considered to be Davin Fincher directed, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button which was as low as 5/2 for the Golden Globes but is now as long as 9/2 with Bet365 and 4/1 with Paddy Power.Other competitors include Milk at 7/1, Frost/Nixon at 12/1 and Revolutionary Road at 14/1.It remains to be seen if the final nominations for Oscars would provide a different list that the Golden Globe awards.Slumdog is not just expected to be the favourite for the best picture category but will also vie for top honors in many other categories including the best director award for Danny Boyle.
