SOUTH AFRICA VS ENGLAND 4TH TEST LATEST BETTING TIPS

A classic England collapse in the first innings has all but put pay to their chances of winning this fourth and final test at the Wanderers, however the stormy weather has helped retain their hopes of a test match draw and series win.
Controversy has never been far away throughout this series with accusations of ball tampering aplenty, but the biggest bone of contention could have come in this final test. England have now lodged an official complaint over a contentious umpiring decision which led to Graeme Smith being given a second life when it appeared he should have been given out with just 15 runs to his name and South Africa on 36. Inevitably he went on to make a century and put South Africa in a commanding position in the test match.
The hosts are now as short as 1.6 to win the match and level the series whilst the draw is available at 3.0 and England’s slim chances are reflected in their 30.0 price on Betfair. The weather forecast provides the biggest inclinations as to which way this game will go, because if we were to have three full days play I cannot see anything other than a South African victory.
However, the Met Office do provide some good news for Andrew Strauss and his men here as the forecast is for periods of rain and thunder storms over the next few days. If you’re looking for a bet on the match odds I’d be inclined to side with the draw as the price will inevitably shorten as the rain starts and stops over the duration of the days ahead.
The other market of immediate interest is the South Africa 1st Inns Runs market, one which could depend on whether Smith’s hand is forced into a declaration at some point. If the expected rain does come then he may be forced to attack and declare with a smaller lead than he would otherwise wish, somewhere in the region of 250 runs with four sessions to spare perhaps. On that basis a lay of 425 runs or more at 2.0 would be a good starting point.
Finally, Betfair’s ‘Test Match End’ market commands a bit of attention. The weather forecast has made ‘Day 5 – Evening’ the favourite at around the 2.2 mark a bet which looks to be a wise one given that if the game is declared a draw at any stage then it will be a winner.
England fans will be doing their best rain dances over the coming days whilst South Africans will be praying for enough clear skies in order to force a result, whoever handles the waiting and tension best could be the ultimate victors.
