SOUTH AFRICA VS URUGUAY 2010 WORLD CUP PREDICTIONS AND BETTING TIPS
The first match in the second round of group stage games kicks off as the final Wednesday fixture today at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
The host side take on Uruguay who were held to a draw in their opening fixture. I think that Uruguay will likely fancy their chances here, as they didn't really click in their last match. I think if they can improve the service to their strikers and attack with a bit more verve then they will likely see a better result today.
Uruguay's odds to win the match trade at 11/8, making them the slim favourites to win the match over 11/5 South Africa. You can back the draw at 21/10 and that's not a bad bet all things considered.
Diego Forlan's success in this match is integral to Uruguay progressing through to the next stage and if they want a shot at getting through- nothing but a win will do for the South American side.
Diego Forlan's odds to score anytime are at 11/8 while he is 18/1 to score in both halves. Forlan is well-priced with popular bookmaker Blue Square to score a header at a 10/1 price. That's an interesting bet as I think this one could be tight and the goals may come from set-pieces.
Luis Saurez is priced at 13/8 to score a goal at any point in the match and he's due a goal after an underwhelming performance in the first fixture.
Katlego Mphela is priced at 2/1 to score a goal at any point for South Africa and he's 33/1 to score in both halves. Steven Pienaar could also be a major factor here and you'll find him well-priced at 7/2 to score a goal at any point in the match.
The bookmakers don't favour a huge amount of goals in the match with under 2.5 priced at 4/9. Over 2.5 goals pays out at 13/8 and I can actually see a few going in during this match as neither team has a dramatically superior defensive unit.
Personally, I think that Uruguay are justifiable favourites but South Africa will be fired up for this one. Both teams will be looking to avoid a draw here, so I think that could open things up and we'll likely see a few goals here.
