SPAIN VS PORTUGAL PREDICTIONS AND LATEST WORLD CUP BETTING TIPS
Hopefully we'll see a few more goals in this one than we saw in the Paraguay vs Japan fixture, and with this many matchwinners on one pitch- you get the feeling that this match could be poised on the head of a pin.
A lot of folks are underrating Portugal in this tournament and I think it has a lot to do with the underwhelming performance we've seen from Cristiano Ronaldo. Much was expected of the winking wonder and it is clear that he has not delivered up to this point.
You can't ask for a better stage than this though and you can bank on Ronaldo wanting the lion's share of possession here.
Spain are the distinct favourites for this one, that goes without saying, but I think Portugal are a stronger underdog than we've seen in a lot of the previous matches. You'll find Spain priced at 2.0 to win the match in the 90 minutes market. The draw is rewarding at 3.25 while Portugal are listed at 4.33.
If you're going to be betting on this one, I think the key variable is which team scores first. Spain have much more accomplished and prolific strikers than the Portuguese, but I can see the Portugal side scoring first- possibly from a set-piece.
Spain can be backed to score the first goal of the match with a 1.73 price while Portugal are trading at around 2.5. No goals in the match is priced out at 8.0. The time of the first goal has an over/under on the 27th minute with the over priced at 2.0 and under 27 minutes listed at 2.1.
One thing that I can see from the Portuguese is a potential fightback. I do reckon they can score goals against Spain, especially if Spain know they have to come forward. I don't really expect the Spanish side to come forward with a huge amount of attacking verve in the opening 20 minutes. I think they may wait for Portugal to come onto them and attempt to counter quickly.
The bookmakers don't favour a huge amount of goals here with the 2.5 over/under favouring the under option at 1.53 while the over is trading at 2.38.
The draw is a distinct possibility here if Spain have an underwhelming match or if Portugal play exceptionally well. You can back Spain to win in extra-time with an 8.0 price while Spain on penaltie sis listed at 11.0. Portugal are 15.0 to take the match in extra-time while a penalties victory would pay out at 11.0.
Personally, I think that a penalty shoot-out between these two sides would be one for the ages. This could very easily be one of the best fixtures of the tournament and we're eagerly anticipating this one.
